Steam has got to be one of the coolest cloud services created to date. For gamers at least. Which I unfortunately am. Unfortunate because whenever they come out with promotions or sale events, money comes out of my wallet.

Sometimes I think I would prefer to purchase some of these titles on Xbox Live, mainly for the achievements and gamerscore available on Xbox games. What's interesting is that Xbox Live has digital downloads too - they just don't run promotions like Steam does; and Steam has achievements - they're just kinda irrelevant.

In an industry where attachment rate is so important, I'd have to say that Steam beats the consoles hands down. Hard numbers? No, just based on my own experience. I have 55 titles in my Steam Library thanks to their many combo packs and special sale promotions. On Xbox? It's less than 30.

So what's my point? Cloud is awesome? PC gaming isn't dead? Volume is more important than Margin? Nope: just, "Get Steam. It Rules".
